Turn on payment methods

Your customers can pay on delivery, by bank transfer, or by card and wallet through Paymob in stores that sell in Egyptian pounds. Turn on the methods you want, put them in order, and give each its limits and instructions.

Before you start

  • Changing payment methods needs the Manage payment providers permission. The store owner has it; nobody else does unless you add it to their role, as in roles and permissions. Without it you can only view the methods.

In Settings › Payments you decide how customers pay at checkout. Customers see the methods in the order they have on this page, and your store can launch only with at least one method turned on.

Add a payment method

  1. Step 1: From the sidebar, open Settings › Payments.

  2. Step 2: Under Add a payment method, click Set up next to the method.

The method’s form opens at the side of the screen.

  3. Step 3: Fill in the shared fields if you want them.

Name at checkout in Arabic and English (leave it empty to show the default name), Instructions for customers, shown at checkout and in the order confirmation, and Minimum order and Maximum order.

  4. Step 4: For a bank transfer, enter the Bank name, Account name and IBAN, and the SWIFT / BIC if you have one.

Turn on Ask customers to upload a transfer receipt if you want a receipt. The order waits for your confirmation either way.

Order and limits

  • Drag the methods in Payment methods, or use the move menu, to set the order they show in at checkout.
  • Outside its Minimum order and Maximum order, a method shows to the customer but can’t be chosen, with the reason.
  • On cash on delivery, Maximum order is a cap: orders above it cannot pay on delivery.
  • You can also turn off Allow cash on delivery on a particular shipping rate, so orders shipped with it can’t pay on delivery.
  • On pickup orders, cash on delivery shows to the customer as “Pay at pickup”.
  • When only one method is open to the customer, checkout picks it for them.

Confirm a bank transfer

  • At checkout the customer sees your account details and a note to transfer the total after placing the order, which is held until the transfer arrives.
  • If you asked for a receipt, the customer uploads it from their order page: a JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF image up to 5 MB. It shows on the order as Transfer proof.
  • When the money arrives, open the order and choose Mark as paid, then enter the Amount received, Bank reference and Received at.
Can I turn every payment method off?

Not while your store is open: the message Keep at least one payment method turned on. appears. Before launch you can, but the store can’t launch without a method turned on.

Can I take cards in a store in Saudi riyals?

Not yet. Paymob takes Egyptian pounds only, so stores in other currencies sell with cash on delivery and bank transfer.

What happens to past orders if I remove a payment method?

Remove deletes only the method’s settings and credentials; orders already paid with it are not affected. A method with pending payments can’t be removed.
