The owner: from sign-up to the first order

The whole path for whoever creates the store: sign-up and email confirmation, the setup wizard, products, payments, shipping or pickup and delivery, the team, then launch and the first order. Every step leads to the article that goes deeper.

On this page

Before you start

  • An email address you can open: you confirm your account with it before the first launch.
  • An idea of your business type: a Shop sells products that ship, a Restaurant or café sells menu items picked up or delivered from branches. The type decides some of the screens you see for the rest of the journey.

This journey covers everything it takes to sell the first item, in order. You don’t have to finish it in one sitting: what you save stays saved, and what is left shows in the Set up your store card on Home.

Create the store and confirm your email

  1. Step 1: Sign your store up

On the Create your store page fill in two steps: Your account (your name, email and password), then Your store (the store name and address, business type, country and plan), and click Create my store. The details and the address rules are in Create your store.

The Create your store page on its first step: the progress bar with Your account and Your store, the First name, Last name, Email and Password fields, and the Next: your store button.
Fig. 1 —One form in two steps creates your account and your store together.
  2. Step 2: Confirm your email address

Open the email you receive and click Verify email. The link is valid for 48 hours, and confirming is required for the first launch. If the email doesn’t arrive, click Resend email in the banner at the top of the dashboard.

Go through the setup wizard

Once the store is created you land straight in Set up your store: six steps, each with Skip for now and Save and continue. The full walkthrough is Set up and launch your store.

  1. Step 1: Branding and design

In Make it yours upload the Logo and pick the Main colour and Accent colour. Then in Choose your home page click Use this design on one of the suggested templates, or Keep the default home page.

The branding step of the setup wizard: the progress bar with the six steps, the logo upload, the store name, and the main and accent colours with suggested colours.
Fig. 2 —The logo and the store name are both needed to launch.
  2. Step 2: First product or first menu item

Type the name and the Price, add a Photo (required for a shop, optional for a restaurant), then click Save and publish. One product is enough to launch.

  3. Step 3: Payments and shipping

Under How will customers pay? turn on at least one way: Cash on delivery, Bank transfer or a provider under Online payments. Then say how orders reach customers: a flat shipping fee or store pickup for a shop, or your branch and its hours with pickup or delivery for a restaurant.

Fill the catalogue

  1. Step 1: Add the rest of your products

From Catalog › Products (or Menu items in a restaurant) click Add product or Add menu item, then Save and publish or Save as draft. Every field is in Add a product.

  2. Step 2: Organise them

From Catalog › Categories click Add category, and gather what you want to feature in Collections. The walkthrough is in Categories and collections.

Payments and delivery in detail

  1. Step 1: Review the payment methods

From Settings › Payments open any method with Set up. At least one method must stay on. See Payment methods.

  2. Step 2: Take cards through Paymob

Connect Paymob in test mode first (On · Test mode), then switch it to On · Live once the connection test passes. Going live needs a confirmed email. The steps are in Connect Paymob.

  3. Step 3: Set shipping, or pickup and delivery

For a shop: from Settings › Shipping & delivery click Add zone, then Add rate — Shipping zones and rates. For a restaurant: open your branch from Branches, turn on pickup or delivery in the Ordering tab, and add Delivery zones — Pickup and delivery.

Your team and your point of sale

  1. Step 1: Invite your team

From Settings › Team › Members & invites click Invite member, enter the email and choose the Role. See Invite your team and Roles and permissions.

  2. Step 2: For a restaurant: connect Moving POS

If your restaurant runs Moving POS and your plan includes the connection, Connect Moving POS appears in the Set up your store card. The steps are in Link your restaurant.

Launch and take the first order

  1. Step 1: Launch the store

Go back to the wizard’s Launch step. Check the Before you launch list, click Preview store to see it as a customer would, then Launch store and Launch now. The badge at the top of the page changes from Coming soon to Live.

The launch step of the setup wizard: the Before you launch list with every item done, the Preview store button, and below it the Set up your store card with all its steps.
Fig. 3 —The Before you launch list says exactly what your store still needs to open.
  2. Step 2: Receive the first order

A new order lands in Sales › Orders on the New tab, with the New-order sound if you turned it on, and an email alert to your address. Click Accept order, then follow it as in Manage orders and Fulfil orders.

Do I have to finish every wizard step before launching?

No. Launching needs only four things: branding, an active product, a payment method, and shipping or pickup, plus your confirmed email for the first launch. The Before you launch list says which of them are missing.

I created the store with the wrong business type. Can I change it?

Yes, until the first order, under Business type in Settings › Store › General. After the first order the business type, country and currency are locked.

Where do I get help while setting up?

Beside each step’s title a “?” button explains it. And if Assistant shows in your sidebar, ask it, as in Use the assistant.
